The opening session on 21st September was given by H.E. Dr Pichet Durongkaveroj, Minister of Digital Economy and Society of Thailand, Mr Malcolm Johnson, ITU Deputy Secretary General and Dr Young-sook Nam, WeGO Secretary General. IT experts and dignitaries from various Asian Pacific countries participated in high-level discussions on Digital Governments and Smart Sustainable Cities.
1 Million People to be trained in IT- Ali Iqbal, Ignite
In the second day’s event, four comprehensive discussion sessions were conducted on several topic including Digital Government and Digital Public Services, Digital Transformation, Smart Sustainable Cities, Digital Societies and Innovations.
Muhammad Ali Iqbal, General Manager of Ignite, Ministry of IT & Telecom was also among the esteemed panel speakers at one of the discussion session. During his talk he highlighted the progress Pakistan has made in IT and Telecom over the last years while focusing on the rapid digital transformation taking place in country.
He said that IT and Telecom development are the top priority of the government due to its essential role in overall progress of a country in today’s world. He also mentioned the number of initiatives MoITT has taken in the recent past to accelerate the IT growth in Pakistan. He said that MoITT aims to train one million people in IT so facilitate digital transformation in the country.
While speaking on the occasion Ali Iqbal said: Mr. Ali Iqbal is the Manager of Ignite (Formerly National ICT R&D Fund) that intents to transform Pakistan’s economy by promoting efficient, sustainable and effective ICT initiatives through synergic development of industrial and academic resources.
